Okay, first off, this event was not technically part of Los Angeles Fashion Week (LAFW) …and it was probably better off because of it. More on that later…

What: LA Fashion Council hosted its first collection previewing some of Los Angeles’ hottest up-and-coming talent. The shows included ISM Mode, Odylyne, Jen Awad, Bohemian Society, Luciana Salamone, Kittinhawk, AGAIN and Luxury Jones. Each designer brought a young, fresh excitement to the normally laid-back LA scene.

LA Fashion Council should be very proud of themselves for this first effort. The shows were well put together with very few hiccups, save one show’s big delay. The audience was attentive and made up of some of the biggest taste-makers in the region. Obviously. I was there.

When: October 10 & 11, 2012

Where: Carondelet House. What a gorgeous, gorgeous place to have your inaugural show? Picking the historic Carondelet house was a stroke of genius. The venue was intimate and romantic, and perfectly framed the sophistication of each designer who was apart of the Spring Collections. This 1920s urban Italian villa, with it’s lush wood floors, exposed brick and charming courtyard, created a backdrop that was elegant and vital to establishing the right message for the new kids on the block.
